DePauw (Ind.) Women and Otterbein Men win 2007 Purple & White Golf Invitationals
(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Nationally ranked teams DePauw (Ind.) University women and Otterbein College men claimed team titles at the Capital University Purple & White Golf Invitationals this weekend at the Foxfire Golf Club in Lockbourne, Ohio.

DePauw's Sarah Gates needed two playoff holes to win Medalist honors on the women's side, while Shawnee State University's Koby Vogler was two over par for the weekend to win men's Medalist honors.

In the eighth year for the women's event, No. 3 in the nation DePauw (Ind.) University followed up a record-setting 319 in the first round with the second-best team score on the Foxfire course posting a 335 for a 654 that won the team title by a commanding 45 strokes.

Nationally ranked Olivet (Mich.) College and Otterbein College finished tied for second each with 699.

DePauw's Sarah Gates (80-82=162) sunk a 25-foot putt on the second playoff hole to beat teammate Ali Murtaugh (77-85=162) for Medalist honors.

On the men's side, No. 17 in the nation Otterbein College won the event with a 606 (297-309), while Muskingum College placed second with a 638 (315-323).

After shooting even par on the Foxfire course Friday, Shawnee State's Koby Vogler fired a two-over 74 on the Players Club course to take Medalist honors with a 146.  That was two shots better than Otterbein's Andy Miller (73-75=148).
