Mulkey, Eddy & Relay Team Lead Men; Basinger Has Big Day For Women
Capital Men Fourth and Women Seventh at All-Ohio Championships

(DELAWARE, Ohio)--A pair of provisional marks to NCAA Championships, a school-record, a pair of event winners and an athlete scoring in five different events highlighted the day the Capital University men's and women's track & field teams had at the All-Ohio Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware.

The Capital men finished fourth, while the women placed seventh in the 21 team field.

Jeremy Mulkey (Dublin/Dublin Coffman) finished fifth in the 100 meter dash but his 10.77 time improved his NCAA Championship provisional mark.  Mulkey then combined with Desmond Taylor (Toledo/Toledo-St. John's), Trent Hinton (Columbus/Whetstone) and Charlie Smith (Westerville/Big Walnut) to post another NCAA Championship provisional mark and set a new school record with a second place finish in the 4x100m relay (42.00).

Syl Eddy (Columbus/Bishop Ready) won the triple jump (44-8.75), while second place finishes came in the high jump (6-4) by Evan Hartman (Mt. Gilead/Mt. Gilead) and in the 110m hurdles (15.11) by Nate Thornhill (Xenia/Xenia).  Other top performances for the men included a pair of third place finishes from Trent Hinton in the 200m (22.03) and Matt Cesaratto (Seven Hills/Normandy) in the 400m hurdles (56.81).

Erica Basinger (West Jefferson/Worthington Kilbourne) scored in five different events and was just one place off scoring in six to lead the Capital women.  Bassinger's day was headlined by a win in the 100 meters (12.56) and a fourth in the long jump (16-9.75).  She then helped the Crusaders score points in a pair of relays.  Basinger combined with Abby Skoda (Ashland/Ashland), Amanda Damsel (Westerville/Westerville South) and Lizzy Stanton (Cincinnati/Withrow International) in the 4x100 meter relay that finished third (49.54).  Basinger, Stanton, Liz Ramsey (North Canton/Hoover) and Amanda Whitmer (Alexandria/Northridge) placed fourth in the 4x400 meter relay (4:06.99).

Lizzy Stanton also finished fifth in the triple jump (34-9.75) to round out the top finishes from the Capital women.

Capital competes next Saturday at the Kenyon Classic in Gambier, Ohio.
