Crusader Women Finish Second, Men Third at Otterbein Quad Meet
MEN'S RESULTS | WOMEN'S RESULTS

(WESTERVILLE, Ohio) – Capital University's men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Otterbein Quad Meet Saturday with the women finishing second overall and the men third.

Otterbein won on the women's side with 255 total points with Capital trailing them with 120. For the men, Capital's 103 points were good for third behind Otterbein (134) and the winner Wilmington who had 149.

First place finishes on the women's side included freshman Lizzy Stanton (Cincinnati/Withrow International) in the 100-meter dash as she ran a 13.07, freshman Shelly Gaines (Grove City/Central Crossing) in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:28.67, sophomore Abby Skoda (Ashland/Ashland) in the high jump (5-00.25) and the 4x400-meter relay team of freshman Liz Ramsey (North Canton/Hoover), senior Erica Basinger (West Jefferson/Worthington Kilbourne), junior Amanda Whitmer (Alexandria/Northridge), and Gaines ran a 4:12.40.

Stanton also finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.79 seconds, while Ramsey finished second in the 400-meter dash at 1:01.92 and Basinger second in the 400-meter hurdles with a mark of 1:07.77.

Skoda also starred in the javelin throw with a toss of 107-01 feet, finishing second, while she was also a part of the women's 4x100-meter relay team that also included Basinger, Stanton and freshman Amanda Damsel (Westerville/Westerville South) which finished second with a time of 49.75 seconds.

Capital's men also totaled four first-place finishes as junior Charlie Smith (Westerville/Big Walnut) took the 400-meter dash at 50.43 seconds, junior Nate Thornhill (Xenia/Xenia) won the 110-meter hurdles at 15.22 seconds, sophomore Gerald Bailey (Cincinnati/Princeton) in the long jump at 20-06.50 feet and the 4x100-meter relay squad consisting of freshman T.J. Scott (Olmsted Township/Olmsted Falls), junior Jeremy Mulkey (Dublin/Dublin Coffman), junior Trent Hinton (Columbus/Whetstone) and Smith running the event in 42.42 seconds, only 39 tenths of a second off the school record.

Freshman Brent Bolz (Westerville/Westerville South) finished second behind Bailey in long jump with a mark of 20-00.25 feet while Bailey also performed well in the triple jump, jumping 41-04.50 feet.

The Crusaders are back in action next weekend as they travel to Ohio Wesleyan next Friday.
