(ADA, Ohio) – Capital University's indoor track & field team completed their season today at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at the ONU Sports Center in Ada, Ohio. Both the men and women's team finished sixth.

Mount Union College (167) and Ohio Northern University (100) finished first and second on the men's side, while Baldwin-Wallace College (158) and Otterbein College (134) were first and second for the women.

On the men's side, five Crusaders nabbed All-OAC honors with junior Nate Thornhill (Xenia/Xenia) standing out among the group. Thornhill finished second in the 55-meter hurdles and also tied for second in the high jump. His time of 7.87 seconds in the hurdles was just .06 seconds behind the winner, while he tied for second in the high jump with a leap of 1.95 meters.

Juniors Jeremy Mulkey (Dublin/Dublin Coffman) and Charlie Smith (Westerville/Big Walnut) each crossed in third place in the 55-meter dash and 500-meter dash respectively.

Mulkey's NCAA Provisional Qualifying time of 6.46 seconds put him behind two sprinters from Mount Union and Smith's time of 1:06.90 had him the third slot, as the winner of the 500 was only 36 hundreths of a second better than Smith.

On Friday night, junior Syl Eddy (Columbus/Bishop Ready) came in third in the triple jump with a leap of 44-04.75.

Freshman Doug Gibbons (Troy/Troy) was the last Capital male to earn All-OAC honors as he went 14-09.00 feet in the pole vault and finished second overall. Gibbons set a Capital indoor record with his vault.

On the women's side, freshman Shelly Gaines (Grove City/Central Crossing) was the lone individual to earn All-OAC honors with her time of 2:26.09 putting her in second place as she broke her own school record in the process.

The women's 4x200 meter relay team came in third place with a time of 1:46.72 to also garner All-OAC honors.
