#5 Ithaca (N.Y.) 14, Capital 5  [Box Score]
#2 Salisbury (Md.) 5, Capital 1
[Box Score]
(SALISBURY, Md.) - Capital University's softball team fell again to No. 5 Ithaca (N.Y.) College and No. 2 Salisbury (Md.) University Saturday by scores of 14-5 and 5-1 at the Sea Gull Softball Tournament in Salisbury, Maryland.

The Crusaders drop to 8-6 on the year, while Ithaca is now 12-2 and Salisbury is 16-2.

After losing 8-0 to Ithaca on Friday, Capital fell behind early again on Saturday, looking at a 6-0 deficit after two innings.

A five-run bottom of the third for the home team Crusaders brought them within one of the Bombers before an eight-run fourth inning put the game out of reach.

Junior Jen Heidenreich (Xenia/Xenia) picked up the loss in game one after throwing two innings and giving up six runs on six hits. She also walked two and stuck out three, while dropping to 3-3 on the year.

Junior Jackie Burris (Beach Park, Ill./Warren Township) and senior Mandy Sladoje (Lancaster/Lancaster) each tallied an RBI and a run scored in the game.

Game two was a low-scoring affair through four and half innings as the score was 2-1 in favor of the Sea Gulls before they put a three-spot on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth to take a 5-1 lead which is how the contest would end.

Heidenreich went the distance, giving up four earned runs while walking and striking out three.

Capital will travel to Mount St. Joseph on Thursday for a 3 p.m. twinbill.
