University senior outfielder Jennifer Flatter (Arcanum/Arcanum) has
been named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA (College Sports Information
Directors of America) Academic All-America Softball College Division Second Team.

Softball in 2005
It
was a tale of two seasons for the Capital University softball team in
2005. The Crusaders started the season at 15-10 before winning 12 of
their final 15 regular season games to finish in third place in the Ohio
Athletic Conference and make a return trip to the OAC Tournament.

Doubled Up, Capital Falls to Mount Union

For the second straight day Mount Union College upended Capital
University in the Ohio Athletic Softball Tournament, this time
by a score of 5-4. The loss ends the Crusaders' season, while
the Purple Raiders advance to the tournament finals to face host
and top seed Muskingum College.

Pitcher of the Week.
Heidenreich tossed the first no-hitter for Capital since 2003 in a
2-1 eight inning win over the College of Mt. St. Joseph last
week. For the week, Heidenreich was 2-0 did not allow an
earned run with four hits and seven strikeouts in 16 innings of
work.
