Rutherford beat Danny Kim of the University of California at Santa Cruz in the opening round in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. Kim had helped lead UC-Santa Cruz to a second place finish in the team competition this past weekend. Rosty Orach, Trinity (Conn.), the No. 2 seeded player in this year's field, ended Rutherford's season in the second round, 6-4, 6-3. Rutherford entered the tournament posting a perfect 18-0 record this spring and leading Capital to its first-ever Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Tennis title.
