Crusaders Have Deja Vu in Tournament Game at John Carroll

(UNIVERSITY HTS., Ohio)-- In
its first appearance in the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament since 1992,
the Capital University men's soccer team fell to John Carroll University 2-1
in overtime Tuesday in University Heights, Ohio.
The last time the Crusaders earned an OAC
tournament spot, they lost 4-2 in the semi-final match against the Blue Streaks.
The first goal of the game was in the 79th minute
of action with a Drew Yost (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) header off a
cross from Joey Linkhorn (Pickerington/Pickerington Central). John
Carroll tied the game with a goal by Alex Bernot, eventually sending the game
into the extra period.
In the 95th minute of the game, Milko Cecez put a
goal into the back of the net, sending his team to the OAC championship
game.
Capital out-shot John Carroll 14 to 12, led by Dan
Albeit (Bexley/Bexley) with three shots. Goalkeeper John Snyder
(Columbus/Thomas Worthington) finished the game with five saves, giving him
89 for the season.
The Crusaders end their season 12-7-1.
