Crusaders Downed by Pioneers, But Not Out
Capital Makes OAC Tournament For First Time Since 1992
Marietta 2, Capital 1 (OT) [Box Score]
(MARIETTA, Ohio)--
Capital University's men's soccer team fell in overtime 2-1 to Marietta College in its Ohio Athletic Conference and regular season finale Saturday in Marietta.

The Crusaders finish the regular season at 12-6-1 overall and 5-4 in the OAC.  Even with the loss, a loss by Otterbein College, Capital's 15 points qualifies them for the four-team OAC Tournament for the second time in school history and first time since 1992.

Marietta got on the board early as Bradley Baweja got on the board 1:01 into the contest.  Marietta would hold onto a 1-0 lead at the half.

Capital sent the game into overtime with a tying goal from Tony Miller (Springfield/Springfield Catholic Central) off a penalty kick in the 82nd minute.

Carlos Recchia won the game for Marietta (7-10 overall, 2-8 OAC) five minutes into the extra session.

Each team had 13 shots as sophomore Joey Linkhorn (Pickerington/Pickerington Central) led the Capital with three, while freshman goalkeeper John Snyder (Columbus/Thomas Worthington) earned nine more saves, giving him 84 total.

Fourth-seeded Capital travels to No. 1 seed John Carroll University Tuesday at 2 p.m. in an OAC Tournament semifinal.  The other semifinal will feature Baldwin-Wallace College and Wilmington College.
