Capital Earns Overtime Win Against Mount Union

(ALLIANCE, Ohio)--
In a hard fought Ohio Athletic Conference battle, the Capital University men's soccer team conquered Mount Union College 4-3 in overtime in Alliance, Ohio Saturday night.

Drew Yost (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) earned his fourth goal of the season in the 28th minute of the game, giving the Crusaders the lead, 1-0. However the Raiders tied the game midway through the second half with a penalty kick by Raider Kyle Prock.

Merely 16 seconds later, a penalty kick by Paul Sparke (Cincinnati/Archbishop Moeller) not only gave him his fourth goal for the season, but also regained the lead for Capital. Heath Oberle (Westerville/Westerville South) extended the Crusader lead with ten minutes left in the game with a goal, making the score 3-1. The Raiders sent the game into overtime with a goal by Axel Sandoval, followed by a goal by Dan Sears. 

Three minutes into overtime, Dan Albeit (Bexley/Bexley) helped out teammate Yost with the final goal of this game, giving Capital the overtime win. Mount Union drops to 6-9-1 overall and 0-6-1 in the OAC.

The Crusaders improve to 12-4-1 overall and 5-2 for the season. Albeit earned two assists during this game, giving him 11 for the season. Goalkeeper John Snyder (Columbus/Thomas Worthington) now has 72 saves this season with the six he earned during this game.

The team hopes to continue their winning ways Wednesday when it travels to visit the Wilmington College Quakers for 7 p.m. contest.
