(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—In
its last home game of the regular season, the Capital University men's soccer
team triumphed over Ohio Athletic Conference rival Otterbein College in a 3-2
victory Saturday in Columbus.
The Cardinals scored first early in the first
half. With assistance from teammate Drew Pitzer, Otterbein's Justin Lewis
laid the ball into the back of the net in the fifth minute of action. The
Crusaders fired back minutes later with a Tyler Mowbray
(Centerville/Archbishop Alter) header for goal with help from Heath
Oberle (Westerville/Westerville South).
Otterbein wouldn't quit and after a Capital foul,
Cardinal Brett LeFever scored from 30 yards out midway through the first half.
Heading into halftime, the Cardinals led, 2-1.
Late into the second half, an Otterbein foul set
up the Crusaders for a penalty kick. Tony Miller (Springfield/Catholic
Central) came through for Capital and capitalized on the easy kick, tying
the game, 2-2. The game-winning goal came in the 77th minute when Oberle linked
up with Joey Snyder (Columbus/Thomas Worthington) for Capital's third
