Capital Falls 2-1 In Season Opener

Capital University's men's soccer team lost their season opener 2-1 against Greensboro (N.C.) College at the Fred Meyers Invitational in Delaware, Ohio.

Greensboro opened the scoring in the 31st minute on a Richard Engel goal, assisted by Tony Falvino. Later, they took a 2-0 lead in the second period on Geoff George's unassisted goal.  Freshman forward Joey Snyder (Columbus/Thomas Worthington) cut the deficit to 2-1 on a goal in the 75th minute, with junior Zach Porter (Fairborn/Fairborn) registering the assist.  Freshman John Snyder (Columbus/Thomas Worthington) recorded nine saves in goal, but still suffered the loss.

Capital (0-1) plays Fredonia (N.Y.) State Saturday evening at 5 p.m. before returning to take on Oberlin College in their home opener Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 5:15 p.m.
