Crusaders Turn Up the Defense for Third Straight Win
Capital 75, Marietta 51 [Box Score]

(MARIETTA, Ohio) - Capital University's men's basketball team held high-scoring Marietta College to a season-low 51 points and won their third straight game 75-51 in an Ohio Athletic Conference match-up in Marietta, Ohio.

Having already clinched a spot in the OAC tournament, the Crusaders are picking up momentum winning their third straight as they head into the postseason. Capital is now 11-12 on the season, 8-9 in the OAC.

Marietta falls to 4-20 and 1-16 in the conference.

With Capital leading 3-2 after a sloppy first four minutes, the Crusader offense erupted, going on a 24-6 run that spanned 10 minutes to give them a 27-8 advantage.

Seven different Capital players scored points in the first frame as the teams headed into the locker room with the Crusaders up 41-21.

After Marietta scored the first five points of the second half to make the score 41-26, the Crusaders took over from there, going on a 9-0 run to put them up by 24 at 50-26 with 14:47 to play.

Twelve different Crusaders etched their name in the scoring column, led by freshman guard Nate Stahl (St. Henry/St. Henry) who tallied 19 points and sophomore guard Pat Stolly (Lima/Lima Central Catholic) who notched 13.

Stolly also dished out a game-high six assists, while freshman forward Quintin Mitchell (Toledo/Libbey) came off the pine to score eight points and grab a game-high nine boards.

The Crusaders are now tied with Otterbein and John Carroll at 8-9 in the OAC as the teams battle for playoff seeding going into the weekend.

Capital will look to extend their winning streak to four games on Saturday as they host No.3 Baldwin-Wallace at The Capital Center at 1 p.m.
