The Crusaders got back on the board as senior running back Colin O’Reilly (Bexley/Bexley) had a two-yard touchdown run with 30 seconds to go in the third quarter and after a missed extra point led 16-7.  On the next drive, with John Carroll driving a Phillips pass was tipped by senior Tony Miller (Lancaster/Fisher Catholic) then intercepted by Hausler at the Capital five-yard line.  Capital then put together a 16-play drive that took 8:27 off the clock and finished with a 22-yard Spitz field goal to make it 19-7 with 4:17 to play.

Capital sophomore James Starks (Toledo/Toledo-St. Francis) ended any hopes of a John Carroll comeback with an interception on the ensuing drive.

Three of Capital’s four interceptions came in the second half, while over the same span the Crusader offense ran for 92 yards and held the ball for almost 20 minutes.
