Gaines & Burgei Finish Strong at NCAA Great Lakes Regional
(WILMINGTON, Ohio)--Capital University freshman Shelly Gaines (Grove City/Central Crossing) and junior Melissa Burgei (Ottawa/Ottawa-Glandorf) each finished in the Top 35 Saturday at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in Wilmington, Ohio.

Gaines finished 19th overall with a time of 22:04 and was the fourth Ohio Athletic Conference runner to finish. Burgei finished 33rd overall with a time of 22:29.9 and was the eight OAC player to finish. Both runners earned All-Great Lakes Regional team, the first time in school history any runner has received that honor.

Other OAC schools that participated in the meet and finished in the Top-10 were Ohio Northern in seventh place and Otterbein in ninth place.
