Gaines and Burgei Place in Top 10 at the Wilmington College Fall Classic

WILMINGTON, Ohio)— Capital University's cross country teams traveled to Wilmington, Ohio Friday afternoon for the Wilmington College Fall Classic. The women ran to an eighth place finish while the men finished 12th.

Capital's women were paced by top-10 finishes from freshman Shelly Gaines (Grove City/Central Crossing) and junior Melissa Burgei (Ottawa/Ottawa-Glandorf). Gaines posted her top time of the year, crossing in seventh-place at 19:48.16 and Burgei finished in 20:00.12, good for a tenth-place overall finish.

On the men's side, sophomore Matt Harmon (Malvern/Glenoak) led the charge with a 42nd place finish and a time of 28:06.10 and was followed by freshman Brian Mick (Massillon/Massillon Washington) who finished 67th with a time of 30:07.44.

The Crusaders will have next weekend off before competing in the Ohio Athletic Conference championships at Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio.
