Capital has one of its own in the dugout as alum Greg Weyrich is in his fourth season as head baseball coach.

In 2006, Weyrich led the Crusaders to a 16-21 record and to eight wins in the conference, the most a Capital team has had since the 1997 season.

Before coming back to Capital, Weyrich, spent seven seasons building a highly successful program across town at Columbus State Community College. 

Weyrich compiled a 257-133 mark with the Cougars, won four OCCAC (Ohio Community College Athletic Conference) championships and advanced to the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) World Series five times finishing fourth in the nation in each of his last two seasons. His best season was 2001 when the Cougars went 51-21 overall and finished second in the nation. Weyrich has been named conference, district and regional coach of the year five times including the last three years in a row and five of his players have signed contracts to play professional baseball.

After graduating from Capital in 1984 with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Weyrich went on to be a graduate assistant coach at Eastern Kentucky University. In two years at EKU, he earned a Master’s degree in Physical Education and the Colonels twice won the Ohio Valley Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. From 1987 to 1989 Weyrich played professional baseball in Florida (Baseball City Royals) and Australia (Perth, Western Australia). Weyrich is also an ordained minister who also owns a home building company called Weyrich Woods.

A Columbus native and alum of Columbus West High School, Weyrich, his wife Donna, a professor at Columbus State, and four-year old daughter Lydia live in Bladensburg, Ohio.

Assistant Baseball Coach
Vic Radcliff

Radcliff enters his second season as an assistant coach in charge of hitting and fielding at Capital.

Radcliff, a 1995 graduate of North Augusta High School in North Augusta, South Carolina, was selected by Kansas City Royals in the fourth round of the 1995 amateur draft and spent sevens seasons in the Royals organization for seven years.  

He joined Weyrich’s staff as an assistant coach at Columbus State in 2003 and 2004 where each team finished fourth in the nation in the NJCAA.

Radcliff, who is completing his undergraduate degree at Capital, resides in Columbus with his wife Nikki and three children Brianna, Baron, and Bishop.

Assistant Baseball Coach
Jeff White
White enters his second season as an assistant coach in charge of pitching at Capital.

A 1980 graduate of Northridge High School in Johnstown, Ohio, White was a 17th round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Pirates and spent two seasons in the organization.

White coached at Licking Valley High School in Newark, Ohio, for four years before joining Weyrich.  

White his wife, Sue, and their children Bryan, Bethany, Jessica, Dustin, and Logan reside east of Columbus in Licking County .  His son Bryan is currently a sophomore on the Capital baseball team.

Assistant Baseball Coach
Bill Schultz
Schultz in his second season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Capital baseball team.  

Schultz has been with Weyrich for the last nine seasons at Columbus State and Capital.  Prior to that he was coaching for seven seasons at Groveport-Madison High School.

Schultz is currently a teacher at Utica High School and is pursuing a Master's degree in teaching at Muskingum College.  

He received his Bachelor's degree and was a three-year starter on the baseball team at Judson (Ill.) College.  

Schultz's wife Merri Anne is the team secretary and they reside in Knox County with their four children, Phillip, Leslie, Halle, and Gregory.

Assistant Baseball Coach
Erik Williams

Williams joins the coaching staff after concluding his playing career with the Crusaders a year ago.

He will serve as an assistant coach as well as performing administrative duties.

Williams will complete his undergraduate studies in May, earning a degree in Business Administration/Human Resources.
