Mount St. Joseph 5, Capital 4 [Box

(AMELIA, Ohio)-- Following a 17-day layoff, Capital University's
baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader Wednesday, falling 9-3 to
Thomas More (Ky.) in Crestview Hills, Ky., and 5-4 to Mount St. Joseph in
Amelia, Ohio.
Capital has now lost four straight games and is 6-8 overall on the season.
In
the first game, Capital took a 2-0 lead in the top of the sixth on an RBI
groundout by sophomore Bill Christian (Poland/Poland Seminary). Thomas
More responded by putting up six runs in the bottom half of the inning, then
adding a single run in the seventh and two more in the eighth to close out the
victory.
The
Crusaders held a 4-3 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth against the
Lions in the second contest, but a two-run walk-off homer by Mount St. Joseph
ended the game. Freshman Nick Snider (Granville/Granville) had a
two-run single to put the Crusaders up 2-0 in the first as they led throughout
the ballgame.
Capital
returns to action Saturday at 1 p.m., hosting a doubleheader at Clowson Field again
rival Otterbein College in their Ohio Athletic Conference opener.
